Oatmeal
Packaging
Thunderbowl
PROJECT BRIEF: Design a brand identity and packaging system for Thunderbowl, a high-protein oatmeal targeting fitness-conscious consumers.
PROBLEM: The box must stand out when placed on a shelf next to competitors
DESIGN INTENT: Use bright colors and sans-serif text to keep the energy of the brand high
INSIGHT: I learned a lot about what jobs I want to use an AI tool for and what's better left to humans. I regret relying on LMLs so heavily for copywriting for this project, and am happy with my decision to collaborate with a 3D Model artist for the final mock-up renderings.
OUTCOME: Gained knowledge of package die lines and food packaging requirements

DIELINES: I created the dieline from scratch for this project, which started by deconstructing a box of oatmeal from my pantry. I used the original box's measurements as a guide.

MOOD BOARD & SKETCHES: The mood board inspired sketches for pattern designs to be used as flavor signifiers.

LOGO DESIGN: I began by sketching thumbnails. I took my favorites and reworked them digitally until I had a lockup that worked in a variety of orientations and would inspire brand recognition.

BOXES & POUCHES: The joy was in the details for this project. Each box contains microwave instructions, complete nutrition and ingredient labels, distribution information, expiration stamp placement, and certification icon space.

APPLICATION: I collaborated with a 3D rendering artist for mock-ups
